How We Research

Here’s the honest, plain-language version of how an Abodivo guide gets made. For the standards it’s held to, see our Editorial Policy.

1. We start from a real question homeowners actually have

Topics come from genuine, specific problems and decisions -- not generic keyword lists. A guide exists because it answers something a homeowner or property manager would plausibly need to know, not to fill out a category.

2. We gather information from authoritative sources

Building codes and adopted standards, government agencies, manufacturer documentation, and recognized trade and standards organizations -- the entities actually responsible for the information, not whatever ranks highest in a search result. Every real source we use is listed on the article itself.

3. Technology assembles the first draft; it doesn’t invent the facts

We use AI assistance to research and draft efficiently -- we say so plainly rather than pretending otherwise. But the drafting step works from the sources gathered in step 2; a claim in a published guide is expected to trace back to a real source, not to the model’s own general knowledge dressed up as fact.

4. Every guide is checked before it publishes

Before anything goes live, it goes through an automated accuracy and safety review that checks the draft’s claims against its own cited sources and against our editorial standards -- a guide that can’t back itself up with a real, checkable source doesn’t pass. 5. We revisit guides, not just publish and forget

When we become aware a code reference, manufacturer spec, or figure in a published guide is out of date, we update it -- the article’s “Updated” date reflects real edits, not a cosmetic refresh.
